In the pop-up window, select the document to format (by default it is the current document) and the style. Selecting output style: Select the desired output style as described above.įormatting references: Return to Word and select Format Bibliography from the EN submenu of Word’s Tools menu ribbon.

Please see the appropriate manual for your style for additional formatting requirements.By default, EndNote creates a single bibliography at the end of the word processing document. With EN and Microsoft Word, you can create a bibliography for each section of the document (or for each section as well as one at the end of the document). It does not format the rest of the paper: title page, headers, footers, captions, etc. Note: EndNote Web only formats citations and references. Customizing your style list will also limit the number of styles that appear when using the MS Word toolbar. On any page showing the Bibliographic Styles drop down list, click on the Customize this list link to the right of the drop down box. If there are a few format styles that you use often, you can Customize your style list to see only those commonly used styles. To choose a formatting style in any of these cases, you will need to select your prefered style from the list. You must prepare your paper carefully according to the instructions for the automatic formatting to work. Please see the Help section on formatting for instructions.

In EndNote Web, there are three methods of formatting citations. These are all in the (long) alphabetical list available in EndNote Web, plus dozens of other styles from journals, publishers, and associations in all fields of study. The major formatting styles used are MLA (English and other Humanities), APA (most Social Sciences, including Education), Chicago (History), ASA (Sociology), JAMA or NLM (Health and Medicine), and CSE-formerlly CBE-(Sciences). If you need another, please contact Rebecca Hedreen. We've edited the list down to the most commonly used styles on campus. EndNote Web has hundreds of formatting options so many that's it's confusing.
